Jamie Stan Westmoreland

Ivie Funeral Home announces services for Sgt. Jamie Stan Westmoreland, age 27, of Banks County who died Sunday, November 29 at BJC Hospital.

Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Wayne Westmoreland of Commerce and LeighAn and Paul Montecalvo of Banks County. Sgt. Westmoreland served his country through the Army National Guard and enlisted in the U.S. Army as the sergeant of his own squad in Baghdad for 14 months. He then returned to Ft. Sill, OK and trained new soldiers in urban warfare and recently became a certified firefighter in Banks County and the City of Homer. As stated by his family, "We are all very proud to have had him in our lives."

Survivors, along with his parents, include a son Austin Westmoreland of Commerce; his fiance Michelle Spence of Banks County; brothers Clinton Westmoreland, Travis Cook, Austin Montecalvo and Dylan Montecalvo, all of Banks County, and Ronson Tradd Westmoreland of Watkinsville; a paternal grandmother Eddie Vera Westmoreland of Commerce; an uncle, Ronson Westmoreland, and an aunt, Phyllis Farley, both of Commerce; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sgt. Westmoreland was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Sgt. Branson Westmoreland and an uncle, Chris Westmoreland.

Funeral services for Sgt. Jamie Westmoreland will be held Friday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Dana Young and Jason Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in the Grey Hill Cemetery. the family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m.
