Marian Davis Porter

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Marian Davis Porter, age 80 of Jefferson, Georgia who passed away on Friday, November 27, 2009 after a period of declining health. Mrs. Porter was born in Jackson County Georgia, the daughter of the late Malvin Henry Davis and the late Demaris Thurmond Davis, Mrs. Porter was a retired case worker for the elderly with the Jackson County Department of Family and Children's Services and was a member of the Academy Baptist Church. Mrs. Porter is preceded by her husband, Storey Porter and a brother, Norris Davis.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Melvin and Donna Porter of Jefferson. Three daughters and son in laws, Diane and Charles Oliver, Demaris and Fred Gurley, and Susie and Phil Thurmond, all of Jefferson. Three grandaughters, Stephanie Oliver Walker (Wade), Allison Porter Seibert (Justin) and Taryn Gurley. Five Grandsons, Jason Oliver (Sybil), Hutch Porter, Ryan Gurley, Caleb Thurmond, Cain Thurmond. Six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are four brothers, Lewis Davis, Joel Davis, Phil Davis, all of Jefferson and Stanley Davis of Cumming. Three sisters, Faye Davis of Athens, Marsha Davis of Duluth and Molly Brannon of Flowery Branch.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Academy Baptist Church with the Reverends Clark Ivey and Lee Hunter officiating with burial to follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, Georgia. Honored as pallbearers are Jason Oliver, Hutch Porter, Ryan Gurley, Caleb Thurmond, Cain Thurmond, Wade Walker, Justin Siebert and Davis Walker.
