Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Pauline Smith Ravan, age 84 of Dahlonega. Mrs. Ravan passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 following a period of declining health. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, November 27, 2009 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dale Abernathy and Jimmy Hamby officiating, interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ravan was born in Lumpkin County on February 13, 1925, where she spent her life as a mother and homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Smith, son, Don Ravan and great grandchildren Crystal and Daisy Dockery, brother, Harold Smith and sister, Irene Gilmer.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Tim & Angie Ravan, Cleveland; daughters and sons in law, Joan & Glenson Lee, Cleveland; Pat & Robert Dockery, Dahlonega; sisters, Margaret Crew, Dallas, Ga and Jimmie Vandiver of Helen as well as 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home of Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
