Lamar Johnson

Mr. Robert Lamar Johnson, 85 of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Johnson was born in White County on September 19, 1924 to the late Henry and Bernice Wright Johnson and was also preceded in death by his brother Bill Johnson. He served in WWII in the US Army, 629 Tank Destroyer Battalion from September 1943 to September 1945. Mr. Johnson was a former White County Commissioner and a member of Cleveland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Lois Highsmith Johnson, Cleveland; son and daughter in law: Bobby & Barbara Johnson, Huntsville, AL; daughter and son in law: Denise & Alan Boggs, Cleveland; grandchildren: Blake & Lacey Boggs, Cleveland, Paige Johnson, Abigail Johnson and Sam Johnson, all of Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 20, 2009 at Cleveland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Emory Brackman and the Rev. Richard Huycke will officiate. Burial will follow at Gateway Memory Park with full military honors by the White County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday at the funeral home.
