Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at First Baptist Church Chapel for Mrs. Thelma Nicholson 88 of Gainesville. The Rev. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate. Visitation will be at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born May 28, 1921, in Neshoba County, MS, Mrs. Nicholson had lived in Hall County for a number of years. After college and marriage she moved to Shenandoah, VA for several years before moving to Gainesville. Mrs. Nicholson owned and operated her own Interior Decorating business for over 30 years. She was an active member of the Advanced Study Club and taught a quilting class at the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church. She was active in the Missionary Circle and of the Winsome Sunday School Class. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of the First Baptist Church on Green Street.
Survivors include daughter in law, Helen Nicholson of Newberry FL, son in law Robert Turner of Gainesville, grandchildren Roger Nicholson and wife Sonya of Canton, Angela Ivey and husband Darrell of Jacksonville, FL, Todd Turner and wife Christy of Jasper, sister, Una Carroll of Jenna, LA., and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Onie Roy and Cora Mayo Wilkerson, husband, D.O. (Don) Nicholson son Dennis Nicholson, daughter Connie Nicholson Turner, four brothers and one sister.
