Marvin Lewis McCallister

Marvin Lewis McCallister, age 77 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in White County on September 06, 1932, he was the son of the late James Ozzie and Ella Mae West McCallister. Mr. McCallister was a timber cutter in the saw mill industry and was of the Holiness faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and racing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona Littleton McCallister; brothers, Henry, Curtis, Telford, and Arvil McCallister and sister, Everine Kinsey.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Beverly & David Jarrell of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Kay McCallister of Alto, Kenneth & Vickie McCallister of Jasper, Randy & Diane McCallister of Clayton, Keith & Jody McCallister of Cleveland, son, Ronald McCallister of Cornelia; sister, Nellie Kinsey of Cleveland; brothers, Lee Roy McCallister of Cleveland and Harold McCallister of Demorest; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Friday, November 13, 2009, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Paul Flynn and Rev. Lester Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Interdenominational Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Thursday.
