Charles Edward Whitaker

On Monday, November 2, 2009, the Angels of Mercy called Mr. Charles Edward Whitaker home. Charles served in the United States Army and was retired twice, after being employed by Royston where he worked on the road crew for many years. He was a native of Missouri and attended St. Paul CME Church. Charles was preceded in death by his Parents, Mrs. Mammie Lue and Mr. Jessie Lee Whitaker, Sr.; brother, Mr. Freddie Lee Whitaker, Jr.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and loving wife, Mrs. Patricia Whitaker of the home. Daughter, Ms. Mary Jo Murry of Arkansas; son, Mr. Demetrius Hughes of Jefferson. Sisters, Mrs. Eva June Dowell (Bob) and Mrs. Anna Lue Rouse (Harold) all of Missouri. Many sisters and brothers-in-law, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, November 5, 2009 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Langston officiating. Interment will follow in Evans Memory Gardens, Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, Georgia 706-367-5467.
