Edward Garrett Dunson Sr.,

Mr. Edward Garrett Dunson Sr., age 71, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday Nov. 1, 2009 at the Northeast Georgia medical Center in Gainesville, GA following an extended illness.

Mr. Dunson was a native of Wilkes County, GA who had lived in Lumpkin County since 1975. He was a former resident of Alpharetta, GA. He worked in the construction industry for many years and was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church in Tignall, GA.

He was the son of the late Jesse Lee Dunson and Nettie Jenkins Dunson and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dunson; a sister, Sue Morgan; and brothers, Norman Dunson and Julius Dunson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Dunson, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law Sheila and Frank Spinelli, Dahlonega, GA, Lena Mae and David Dornhecker, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Jr. and Patty Dunson, Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Orene Wolfe, Sparta, GA, Beatrice Land, Social Circle, GA, Mary Ruth Fendley, Cleveland, GA, and Jeanette Pullum, Locust Grove, GA. 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009 at the Fishing Creek Baptist Church in Tignall, GA with Rev. Roy Cates and Rev. Ronnie Fendley officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home all day on Tuesday starting at 11 AM.

On Wednesday Mr. Dunson will lie in state at Fishing Creek Baptist Church in Tignall, GA from 12 noon until 2 PM.
