James Richard Massey, Sr.

Mr. James Richard Massey, Sr., age 75, of Commerce, GA died Saturday October 31, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Massey was born June 3, 1934, to the late, Weldon and Chloe Pinion Massey. Mr. Massey was retired from the BJC Medical Center as the director of radiology. Mr. Massey was a member of First United Methodist Church of Commerce, he served on the Commerce City Council for 19 years, a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the Tumblin Waters Society, and served on the Jackson County Board of Health.

Mr. Massey is survived by his wife Charlotte Ray Massey of Commerce, GA; son and daughter-in-law Rick and Terri Massey of Commerce, GA; two granddaughters Lindsey and Sydney Massey of Commerce, GA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 2, 2009 from the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with Dr. David Bowen and Dr. Carlton Allen officiating with the interment following at Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5-8 PM.
