Jack House
Obituary Date: Thursday, October 29, 2009
Jack House was born February 6, 1922 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of John William House and Clara Jo Hill House. He attended schools in Gainesville, Oakwood, Candler and graduated from Grayson High School.
He worked at Chicopee Manufacturing Plant for 24 years, AT&T Cable Plant for 19 years and retired from Lucent Technologies. He also worked with the State Highway Surveyors, Lockheed Industrial Products and Westinghouse Transformers. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 ½ years during WWII and 16 months during the Korean War.
He was a deacon at Academy Baptist Church, a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge #36 for over 60 years, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise Porter House and sisters, Evelyn House Peck and Jewelle House Reed.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jo and Tony Morris, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Robert Ables, grandchildren, Jonathan Ables and wife Megan, Jared Ables and Lauren Ables, and sister Miriam House Merritt.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30th from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Mason &Ward Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, October 31st at 10:00AM at Jackson Memorial Park, 6825 Jefferson Road, Commerce GA 30529.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday at Academy Baptist Church, Academy Church Road, Jefferson GA 30549. Dr. James Merritt and Rev. Lee Hunter will officiate.
Jack requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to a favorite charity or Academy Baptist Church, c/o Imogene Roncadori, 3777 Commerce Road, Jefferson, Georgia, 30549.
