Obituary Date: Monday, October 26, 2009
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Little & Davenport Chapel for Mr. Norman L. Parr 78 of Gainesville. The Rev. Dr. Steve Brown will officiate. Visitation will be at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The son of the late Warren Clayton and Ruby Katherine Lingerfelt Parr, he was a native of Canton GA.; he had lived in Gainesville since 1954. He served as President of the Gainesville Jaycees, a board member of We Care Foundation; and a member of the Gainesville Hall County Marine Corp League. He was a member of the Paul E. Bolding post of the American Legion. He helped organize the Cake Box Golf Tournament, he was a member of the Saturday Morning Golf Group where he enjoyed playing and he was a member of the Chattahoochee Country Club. He was in the Marine Corp serving during the Korean War and received a purple heart. He was owner and operator of Parr Roofing for over 45 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Betty Sue Seabolt Parr, sisters Virginia Nell Spillers, Evelyn Grace Creel, brothers, Glenn Ernest Parr, Paul Parr and Hubert Parr and granddaughter Chelsea Elizabeth Marlowe.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Jason Peck, son Tony Marlowe; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Michelle Parr, grandchildren, Rachel and Rylan Peck, Kristen and Courtney Marlowe, Christopher Parr and Dylan Loggins.
