Lloyd Flem Vaughters

Lloyd Flem Vaughters, 83, of Dawsonville left for heaven on October 18, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer and spending the past year surrounded by and cared for by his wife, children, sons in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born April 27, 1926 to the late Rev. George and Minnie Vaughters, Flem was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. He was employed for many years by Temple Inland after which he owned and operated Dawson Pulpwood and Coal Mountain Timber. He served as county surveyor for many years and also operated a grading business. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 58 years. Mr. Vaughters was also preceded in death by his grandsons, Keith Evans and Christopher Lloyd Parker; son in law, Ronnie Tanner; brother, George Vaughters, and several other sisters and brothers.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Louise Disharoon Vaughters, Dawsonville; children, Mildred and Cleve Evans, Dawsonville, Vivian Tanner, Dahlonega, Linda and Mark Byrd, Dawsonville, Clark Vaughters, Dawsonville, Marty and David Parker, Dawsonville; sister, Ivy Bannister, Ball Ground; sisters in law, Oletta Disharoon, Dawsonville, Mary Reed, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Cheryl and Rocky Hughes, Angela and Eddy DeCoursey, Frank and Sharon Tanner, Blake and Stephanie Tanner, Calvin Byrd, Anna Byrd, Joshua Vaughters, Zack Vaughters, Jordan Vaughters, Jarrad and Christina Parker, Derrick Parker; great grandchildren, Brody Tanner, Ethan Parker, Rocksy Hughes, special friend, Annette Stewart, and a number of other relatives.
