Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Joyce Tipton Duckett, age 82 of Decatur. Mrs. Duckett passed away Thursday, October 14, 2009 at Emory University Hospital following an extended illness
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2009 from Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Fortner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery
Mrs. Tipton was born in Sautee on September 20, 2009 to Kimsey Tipton and Hortence Rognon Tipton and spent most of her life in Decatur where she was a homemaker and member of Pine Crest Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Loren Duckett and brothers Joe Tipton and Billy Tipton
Survivors include her son, Mike Tipton, Decatur; daughters, Jan Duckett of Norcross and Joan Gresham of Duluth; brothers, Tony Tipton, Clarkesville and Isaac Tipton of Cosa Mesa,CA.; sisters, Mickey Wilson of Hiawassee and Virginia Collins of Decatur; grandchildren, Stephanie Davis and Caroline Gresham; great grandchildren, Abigail Joyce Davis and Jackson Robert Davis
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM
