Alvin Lee Smallwood, Jr.

Mr. Alvin Lee Smallwood, Jr., age 82, of Jackson, GA, formerly of Commerce, GA died October 5, 2009 at Vitas Hospice, Stockbridge, GA.

Born in Jackson County, GA on June 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Alvin Lee Smallwood and Minnie Lee Smallwood Stockton. His wife of 44 years, Mary Edna Smith Smallwood, preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 1988. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Smallwood was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three children, Robert Lee Smallwood of Jackson, GA, Mary Elaine Steadham of Jackson, GA, and Melissa Hope Simmons of Locust Grove, GA; 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Bill) Stockton and Grady Stockton; two sisters, Helen Stockton and Mildred Brown.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Thursday, October 8 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Pastor David Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday , October 7 from 6-9 PM.
