Mr. Tex. C. Jones, 83, of Gainesville died September 25, 2009.
A native of Hall County, Tex, was a residential home builder until 1961 when he opened the Tex Jones Cabinet Shop, which he operated until his death.
Tex was a craftsman, not only with cabinets but built original furniture pieces, as well as repairing and restoring antique furniture. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War II.
He was known for the love of his antique cars and the work he did in restoring them. H was preceded in death by his sons, Royce Jones and Rondle Jones; his parents Will and Willie Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Marie Jones; son, Richard H. Jones, Gainesville; daughters, Gail Norrell-Baird, Gillsville and Rosa Estelle Evans Gainesville; eight grandchildren; a number of step-greandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Thay Jones, Clermont; sisters, Masquelene Kelm, Hillsboro, TX., Gertrude Elliott, Gainesville, Clara Nell Fuller, Murrayville, Thelma Helton, Murrayville and Ruth Martin, Gainesville
Graveside services will be held Monday September 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Rev. Paul Holman will officiate.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Eagle Ranch PO Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, Georgia 30502.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Mason and Ward Funeral Home.
