S. Ray Bass

S. Ray Bass, 73, of Clarkesville, GA, died suddenly on September 12, 2009 in Athens, GA. The son of the late Ada and Patrick Bass, he was born in Edenton, NC.

Mr. Bass graduated from Tift County High School and attended ABAC in Tifton. He earned a degree in business education from Georgia State College in 1958. Following graduation he taught at Ashburn High School and while there, drove the first school bus up I-75. During his career in education, Mr. Bass also taught in Cape Gerardo, at Piedmont Teachers College (where he also got his specialist degree in Education Administration), and at DeKalb Technical College. While working for DeKalb Schools as assistant to the superintendent, he was a founding member of the Georgia Federal Credit Union â
