James L. Knight, Sr.

Obituary Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009
James L. Knight, Sr., 74, Direct-Mail Pioneer and beloved husband and father died peacefully at 2:20am September 9, 2009, surrounded by his family after a prolonged battle with Leukemia.

From humble beginnings in the Techwood Homes, Knight rose to a number of professional heights. His career included positions as General Sales Manager of Nally Chevrolet and in sales at a number of radio and TV stations in Atlanta. Knight would later move on to establish one of the most widely known direct mail marketing companies in Atlanta. This company continues as a leading shopping center promotions and advertising company.

James L. Knight, Sr. will be remembered by friends and loved ones with fond and cherished memories. He lived passionately and loved deeply. His legacy and memories will bring a smile to the heart of those fortunate enough to have known him for years to come.

In the reflective years before the shadow of impending illness Knight would frequently talk of his undying love and adoration of his wife, Kay B Knight. As a couple they had been essentially inseparable through many adventures and trials. She nursed him through a prior bout with prostate cancer a decade earlier and was his primary caregiver through most of his last illness.

He was the beloved husband of 34 years to Kay B. Knight, devoted father to James L. (Jay) Knight, Jr., and Justine K.Wilson, doting grandfather to Emily R. Wilson and Nathan A. Knight, and faithful friend of many. He is already deeply missed by family and friends alike.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2009 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 â
