James Donald Whitley

James Donald Whitley, age 77, of Santa Anna Drive, Norcross, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Peachtree Christian Hospice following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2009 at 3:00 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home North-Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverends Phil Whitley, and Randy Coggins will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitley was born on November 1, 1931 to the late James Ridden and Ruby Lillian Whitley in Monroe, Georgia. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He is preceded in death by his son, James Danny Whitley, his granddaughter, Jeannie Marie Brown.

Mr. Whitley is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Bonnie Louise Whitley, daughter, Sandra Gail Thrasher of Atlanta, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ron Lawrence of Jonesboro, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Leon Merck of Gainesville, granddaughters, Dana Whitley and Sandy Coggins, grandsons, Brian Vaughn, Craig Vaughn, Scott Wilson, and Josh Merck, brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Heather Whitley, sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Doyle Burell, sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Gleason Maxwell.
