Pearline Stephens Morris

Pearline Stephens Morris, age 87 of Cornelia, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Oaks at Scenic View following an extended illness.

Born in Stephens County on November 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Van Buren and Jeanette Bernice Payne Stephens. She was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing. She was a member of Chattahoohee Baptist Church, where she was active in the Adult Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Morris; daughter, Jeanette Dixon; granddaughter, Renee Dixon; sister, Lillian Casey; brothers, B. V. Stephens and Melvin T. Stephens; sister-in-law, Helen Stephens; and brother-in-law, Clyde Hurt.

Surviving are sister, Laverne Hurt of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Martha & Wade Hicks of Winterville; brothers, Clayton Stephens of Homer; brother and sister-in-law, J. B. & Brenda Stephens of Alto; son-in-law, Jimmy Dixon of Cleveland; sister-in-laws, Mary Stephens Cornelia and Mildred Stephens of Mt. Airy; brother-in-law, Renville Casey of Jonesboro; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor Matt Stephens and Rev. Bill Gravely officiating. Interment will follow in Chattahoochee Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Thursday.
