Sybil Irene Trotter

Sybil Irene Phillips Trotter, age 77 of Clarkesville, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Hall County on June 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Larkin and Viola Armour Phillips. She was a homemaker and member of Alto Congregational Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, cooking, reading her Bible and praying for the sick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband, Charles Trotter; sisters, Thelma Williams, Vera Keller, Janie Standridge and Wilda Teague and brothers, Edward Phillips and Marion Phillips. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Naomi & William Ward of Demorest; daughters, Rachel Trotter of Alto and Georgia Looney of Mt. Airy; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Leon Brown and Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Monday. The family is at the residence of daughter, Naomi Ward, 180 Hickory Ave, Demorest, GA 30535.
