David Thomas Morris, age 38, of Dahlonega, GA died Thursday, August 20, 2009 of injuries sustained when struck by a vehicle while assisting a motorist-in-need during heavy rain storm in Dahlonega.
Mr. Morris had a flair for things mechanical, which surfaced in his love for car, trucks, motorcycles, firearms and helicopters, always with projects in-flight or planned. His hands-on abilities provided him with a respected reputation for being able to build or fix just about everything, and he was considered by many to be a firearms expert. Mr. Morris had a caring nature, always the good Samaritan on the highway he also helped others build skills for their own projects by sharing his tools, knowledge, experience and humor.
Mr. Morris is survived by his loving family, wife Teresa Ann Morris, parents Tom and Ann Morris of Dahlonega, children April Brasington of Dahlonega, Aimee Sosebee of Roswell and Bentley (Ben) Sosebee, Jr. of Lawrenceville, sisters Lynn Hale of Dahlonega, Leslie Donaho of Roswell, Jennifer Morris of Murrayville, aunts Jane Pelski of Gainesville and Faye Cash of Alpharetta, uncle Joel Miller of Coral Springs, FL, four step-grandchildren, nephew Aaron Gable of Roswell with eleven other nieces and nephews, and a large, widely dispersed group of cousins.
Mr. Morris, born in Decatur, GA, was a long time resident of Dahlonega. He was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School and of North Georgia College and State University. He was employed as a computer network engineer with expertise in point-of-sales systems and had supported several firms in the North Georgia area. Mr. Morris was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served proudly for eight years in Marine Light Helicopter Attack Squadron 773.
