Gilbert Norris Phillips

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Gilbert Norris Phillips, age 73, of Gaffney, South Carolina, who passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Mr. Phillips, born in Dekalb County, was a son of the late, Hoyt Luther Phillips and the late, Launa Stancil Phillips. He was a retired shop supervisor with Pet Dairy in Winder; and a member of the New Pentecost Methodist Church, Winder. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Wayne Phillips.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anderson Phillips of Gaffney, SC. Daughter, Cynthia Phillips Miller and her husband Bob of Gainesville. Son, Greg Phillips and his wife Shirley of Hoschton. Brothers, Laird Phillips of Braselton, and Dillard Phillips of Helen. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2009 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Phillips, Georgia Miller, Ethan Miller, Mitch Phillips, Lewis Craft, and Lynndell Reynolds.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson.706-367-5467.
