Etheline Simmons Brady

Etheline Simmons Brady, age 88, of Baldwin, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009, at her residence following a sudden illness.


Born in Stephens County on May 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Susie Whitfield Simmons. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 40 years of service and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, reading her Bible and shopping. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Owen Brady; daughter, Lois Bridges; son, Wade Brady; sisters, Inez Swift and Tiny Simmons; brothers, Rance Simmons, Billy Simmons, James Simmons and Harrison Simmons. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.


Surviving are daughters, Joyce Blair of Danielsville, Cathy Stewart of Demorest, Beverly Sterghos of Cornelia and Judy Patterson of Mt. Airy; sons, Junior Brady of Baldwin and Bruce Brady of Homer; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services are 11:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2009, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Wendell Hanley and Rev. Terrell Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Friday. The family is at the residence.
