Homer L. Mooney

Homer L. Mooney, 81, of Dahlonega died Saturday August 8, 2009 at Alzheimers Care of Commerce.

Born December 2, 1927 in Lumpkin County to the late Luther and Sallie Mooney, Mr. Mooney was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He retired from Pine Tree after 37 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Monnie Tanner, Grace Harkins, Blanche Mooney and brother, Hoyt C. Mooney.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Elvie Mooney, Dahlonega; children, Bradley and Phyllis Mooney, Dawsonville, Lyndon and Marion Mooney, Gainesville, Wayne and Becky Mooney, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Hershel and Betty Jo Mooney, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Brandon and Sharon Mooney, Nathan Mooney, Jennifer and Josh Larson, Kelly Mooney; great grandchildren, Dylan Mooney, Briana Mooney, Taylor Williams and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10, 2009 at 3 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rodney Pilcher will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
