Neal Hadaway Rainwater

Neal Hadaway Rainwater, age 84, of Country Way, Gainesville, Georgia passed away Friday, August 7, 2009, at Crisp Regional Rehab and Nursing Center, Cordele, Georgia.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Lakewood Baptist Chapel at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral. Dr. Tom Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate.
Mr. Rainwater was born May 31, 1925, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late John Emmitt Rainwater and Gladys Hadaway Rainwater. He was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology in June of 1948 and worked for Motors Insurance, Corporation, a division of General Motors for 32 years. Mr. Rainwater was a World War II Veteran serving his country as a pilot who flew B-25 bombers and retired as a Colonel in Air National Guard.
Mr. Rainwater was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church, serving with his wife Louise, as Sunday school class teachers of young married couples, member of the DMC Sunday school class and The Golden Nuggets. He was a Life Deacon having served in this capacity for his churches during his adult life. Mr. Rainwater was preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise R. Rainwater of 62 years, and son Dr. Michael T. Rainwater.
Mr. Rainwater is survived by his son, and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Rainwater of Cordele, daughter -in-law, Susan B. Rainwater of Peachtree City, his grandchildren, Doug (Tracy) Rainwater of Loganville, Neal Rainwater of Atlanta, Beth Rainwater of Cordele, Cason and Kathryn Rainwater both of Peachtree City, two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Devon Rainwater of Loganville, special friends were the Keith Rochester Family and Ernest and Becky Dadison.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 2235 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
