Lucy Head

Mrs. Lucy Head, age 90, of Dahlonega, GA died Saturday August 1, 2009 at the Foothills Retirement Home in Dahlonega.

Mrs. Head was born in White County, GA August 25, 2009. She was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, a homemaker, and member of Yahoola Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

She was the daughter of the late Pete and Bertha Savage Gilstrap and was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elmer Head; several sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Head is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar Head, Stockbridge, GA, Dude and Pat Head, Gainesville, GA, Melvin and Stella Head, Dahlonega, GA, Don and Chris Head, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Beatrice Scroggs, Oakwood, GA. 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Head are scheduled for 2 PM Monday August 3, 2009 at the Yahoola Baptist Church in Lumpkin County with the remains placed in state at the church at 1:30 PM. Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Dean Bryant will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 PM until 9 PM and again on Monday until the time of service.
