George Bishop

George Bishop, age 62, of Cumming, GA, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.


Throughout all the challenges from his diagnosis six years ago, George exemplified rare strength and courage. He never lost his great sense of humor and love for life. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Corp. and is a veteran of the United States Air Force and Vietnam. George was born in Wise County Virginia to Ivory and C.L. Bishop. Both parents and sister, Phyllis Trigg of Roanoke, VA are deceased.


Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary (Penny) Cubine Bishop of Cumming, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Julie Bishop of Acworth; granddaughters, Charlie and Alyeska who were the jewels of their Papaâ
