James Buford Caudell

James Buford Caudell, age 85 of Homer, passed away Saturday, August 01, 2009, at Habersham County Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Banks County on July 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Luther Calvin and Mary C. Caudell. Mr. Caudell was a member of Homer Baptist Church and was retired as a foreman from Chicopee Manufacturing and enjoyed hunting, gardening, farming and other outdoor activities. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the European Theater during WWII, where he was a POW being held in Germany. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary O. Caudell; son, Larry Caudell; sisters, Mary Louise Short and Annese Ola Caudell; brother, Brodus Caudell.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Ponda & Lou Wood of Roswell; sister, Kitty R. Caudell of Homer; brother, Dewey Winford Caudell of Mt Airy; grandchildren, Melissa Tirico, Jim Wood, Dr. Misty Dawn Caudell; great grandchildren, Ella Marie Wood, Lily Kathryn Wood, Sophia Melissa Tirico.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2009, from Homer Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Crabbe officiating. Interment will follow in Banks County Memorial Gardens, with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the American Legion Post #84. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 pm on Sunday. Flowers are accepted or contributions maybe made to Homer Baptist Church, PO Box 499, Homer GA 30547.
