Myrtle Kathryn Jones Stewart

Funeral services for Myrtle Kathryn Jones Stewart, age 91, of Clarkesville, will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 3:00 PM, from the Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Leon Miller and Rev. Raymond Payne will officiate with burial to follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 1-3 PM in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Stewart passed away July 27, 2009 at Habersham Home.

Born in Habersham County on December 24, 1917, Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late Byard and Hassie Trotter Jones. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Tallulah Falls School in 1934, and later from North Georgia A&M in Clarkesville. Later she attended business school in Atlanta and then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Piedmont College. Mrs. Stewart was a secretary and counselor at Georgia Industrial Institute. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stewart is preceded in death by husband of 52 years Lloyd Lacy Stewart, son Fred Stewart, and brothers Gene and Bud Jones.

Survivors include daughters and sons in laws Joyce and Bo Chance of Athens and Pam and Ron Wade of Demorest, sister Winnie Cheek of Clarkesville, as well as five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
