Daisy Ellen Burtz Whiting

There was a grand celebration in heaven, July 28, 2009 as Daisy Ellen Whiting, age 83, entered into the realm of Glory. There to greet her was her father Gordon E. Burtz, mother Artie Tallulah Burtz, brother Ray E. Burtz, sister-in-law Flora Burtz and a host of other family and friends. She was delayed a short time by a brief illness here on this earth.


She will be missed greatly by her husband of 61 years, Harold Joe Whiting and the rest of her family: daughter Maritta Sanders of Chestnut Mountain; son & daughter-in-law Ronnie & Paula Whiting of Gillsville; son & daughter-in-law Mark & Sarah Whiting of Flowery Branch; daughter & son-in-law Ellen & Jim Busby of Summerville, SC; sister & brother-in-law Dorothy & Lawrence Freeman of Gainesville; 6 grandchildren, Phillip & Christy Sanders, Chris Whiting, Susan Kemp, Shannon and Cortney Whiting, Matthew Whiting and Jessica Whiting; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexandria Whiting, Rebekah Sanders, Daniel Whiting and James Glenn Sanders.


The best description of our mother and grandmother is found in Proverbs 31:10-31. She loved to garden and share her garden bounty with her neighbors and friends. She loved to sew and share her talents with her family, which she loved so much. She was a long time member of the Blackshear Place Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.


Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Scott Crook and Reverend James Mills will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 6 â
