Wilbur F. Ramsey was born March 20, 1919. He lived in Hall County all his life. He attended Airline High School and the College of Agriculture at UGA, during which time he was a member of the ROTC.
Mr. Ramsey entered the army in 1941, as a second lieutenant of the infantry, and began his duty at Camp Croft, South Carolina as motor school instructor. It was at Camp Croft that he married the beautiful love of his life, Dixie Chester Ramsey, on July 7, 1941.
Upon the entry of the United States into World War II, Mr. Ramsey flew to Panama to train with a unit en route to the Pacific theater. During the war, Mr. Ramsey served as regimental supply officer and as a foot-soldier of this unit, the legendary â
