Cheryl Evangelyn Waller-Akers

Cheryl Evangelyn Waller-Akers, 48, of Gainesville passed away Saturday June 27, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Roland Waller and Joel Walker Johnson. Cheryl was a lifelong resident of Hall County.

Ms. Akers was a member of the Seven Day Adventist Church. She was a former bus driver for the City of Gainesville School System. Ms. Akers graduated from Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in 1991 and was a licensed funeral director. Cheryl was preceded in death by both her mother and father.

Survivors include her sister Sylvia Akers of Gainesville, sister Marion Akers of Indianapolis, Indiana, brother Elmer Akers II of Indianapolis, Indiana, step-father Elmer Akers Sr.( Virgie) of Indianapolis, Indiana, aunt Johncy Walker Geter of Miami, FL., aunt Journia Walker of Oakwood , uncle Stanford Walker of Gainesville. Special cousins Susan Geter of Gainesville and Nelson Geter of Atlanta, nieces Kiki Hendrix, Christina Akers, Thedoria Fugett, Taylor Akers, Dionne Charmae Akers, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 1, 2009, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday June 30, from 7pm-8pm.
