John Paul Tomblin

Ret. MSgt John Paul Tomblin, age 76 of Demorest, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Sand Fork, West Virginia on August 18, 1932, he was the son of the late Eva Curtis Talbott and Harold Tomblin. Ret. MSgt Tomblin served our country proudly for 22 years in the United States Army and retired from the Air Force Reserves having served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and also Yokohma, Japan. He was also a welder for 18 years and prior to retirement served as a maintenance engineer for The Marriott Northwest in Marietta for nine years. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, gardening and bee keeping.
Surviving are wife of 52 years, Peggy Rae Tomblin of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen & Albert Irwin of Elgin, Penn; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin & Janet Tomblin of Union Point and Mark & Leslie Tomblin of Buford; son, Matthew Tomblin of Acworth; two brothers; two sisters; grandchildren, Stephen Rader, Juene Lowry, David Rader and Benjamin Tomblin; great-grandchildren, Allison Rader and Braydon Rader.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Lyons and Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Saturday.
