Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Jesse Roy Lewis, age 89 of Cleveland. Mr. Lewis passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2009 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Aubrey McIntyre and the Rev. Jack Enloe officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born on February 20, 1920 in White County to Fred Lewis and Mandy Smith Lewis. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his wife, Nola Lewis and sister Pearl Lewis.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in- law, Bobbie & Gene Haynes, Cleveland, sister, Clara Lewis, Cleveland; niece and nephew, Gary and Michelle Williams, Cleveland and great nephew, Bradley Williams.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM.
