James Kenneth Griffeth
Jim died after a long illness, Wednesday, June 17th. He was born in Pembroke, GA October. 4th, 1923. His family moved to Athens, GA where Jim attended public schools. He graduated from Athens High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Univ. of Ga. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II in India.
He was employed with Atlanta Arts Alliance from its inception. He became business manager for the Galloway School. He was the baritone soloist for Cathedral of St Phillip, Atlanta for 24 years. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Basic Sunday School Class, Gainesville, GA.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Anderson Griffeth of Gainesville, two sons and daughters in law; Dr. James and Becky Griffeth, Jr., Steven and June Griffeth, five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is also survived by step children, Gary Lewis, Craig and Jackie Lewis, Bruce and Belinda Lewis, Linda and Ron Hopkins and fourteen step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA on Saturday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Matthew McGowan will be officiating at the service. There will be no visitation.
