John Miller Sims

Mr. John Miller Sims, age 73 of Cumming, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009.


He was a member of Park Street Methodist Church, West End in Atlanta, a former Boy Scout and enjoyed camping, the outdoors and traveling. Mr. Sims served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forestal and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 45 years of service. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Sims.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Joan Sims of Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Sims of Marietta, Charles and Donna Sims of Marietta; Joseph and Sherry Sims of Kennesaw and Mark and Melissa Sims of Acworth; brothers, Lenus Sims of Kennesaw and Michael Sims of Smyrna; 12 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.


Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19th at 11:00 am in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Beckley officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
