Lessie Skelton Cooper

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Lessie Skelton Cooper, age 82, of Jefferson who passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.


Mrs. Cooper, a native of Jackson County, was a daughter of the late John Skelton and the late Ila Phillips Skelton. She was preceded in death by her husband Brady Cooper.


She was a homemaker and a member of the White Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooper was an avid gardener and cake baker.


Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Gene Reynolds of Jefferson; Sue and Roy Tolbert of Jefferson; Linda and Gene White of Winder; Janie and Johnnie Roberts of Concord, North Carolin; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren: sister, Ila Jane Roberts of Winder; special sister-in-law, Sue Cooper of Statham; brother-in-law, Guy Cooper of Winder; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 22, 2009 from the Chapel of Evans Funral Home in Jefferson with Reverend Kevin Pae officiating. Interment will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church cemtery.


Serving as pallbearers will be Stacy Tolbert; Mark Reynolds; Jason Lawrence; Darryl Huntsinger; Gary Giffin; John McCartney, and Craig Probert.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2009.
