Brooks Roy Burdette

Brooks Roy Burdette died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in New York. Born Oct. 6, 1961 in Hogansville, Georgia, Brooks was a 1979 graduate of Hogansville High School, an honors graduate of Wofford College and Harvard Law School, and a Truman Scholar. Since 1986, Brooks had been a resident of New York. He was a partner and civil litigator with Schulte Roth & Zabel, LLP.

Survivors include parents Roy and Mildred Burdette of Hogansville, sister Ila Burdette of Atlanta, and fiance Corine Hegland of Washington, D.C.

The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 216 Turnerville Circle, Turnerville, Georgia. A reception will follow at the Mt. Zion Church. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church at 55th Street and 5th Avenue, New York, NY.
