Dale Allen King, age 74, of Enota Avenue, Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park North-Riverside Chapel with internment to follow in the cemetery of Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. King was born in May, 1934 to the late Chester and Esther King in Salina, Kansas on a dairy and wheat farm. He was raised with three brothers and two sisters and learned at an early age the value of hard work, determination and strong moral ethics, which would later serve him well in both his personal and professional life. He graduated Kansas State University in 1958 before moving to Des Moines, Iowa where he worked in the vaccine industry until moving to Overland Park, Kansas. It was there that he started Bio-Tec Laboratories, where he remained until he and his wife, Margie moved to Charles City, Iowa. in 1975. There Mr. King served as Director of Research and development with Salisbury Labs until 1980, when they moved to Gainesville, Georgia to become Lab Director, and later, President of Select Laboratories, a role he served in until his retirement in 2002.
