Mary Evelyn Walker

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Walker, age 85, of Dahlonega, Ga. died Thursday May 14, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Walker was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was a homemaker and a member of Yahoola Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Doc Barrett and Mary Flora Dowdy Barrett and was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Leon Walker, one sister and 5 brothers.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters, Coralyn Walker and Dolores Rider both of Dahlonega; sister, Cora Williams, Jasper, Florida; grandchildren, Chris Rider, Anthony Rider, Alicia Rider, Scott Rider, Ryan Adams, Suzanne Adams Smith, and Denise Culver; great-grandchildren, Leon Hernandez, Edgar and Wahsega Culver, Sierra, Collin, Emaly and Alex Rider and Aiden Smith. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker are scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday May 17, 2009 at the Yahoola Baptist Church. Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Curtis Moose will officiate.

The body will lie in state from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday at the Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday May 16, 2009 from 2 PM until 9 PM at Banister Funeral Home.
