Donald Melvin Stanley

Donald Melvin Stanley, age 61 of Royston and formerly of Alto, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Banks County on February 10, 1948, he was the son of the late J. C. and Beulah Wade Stanley. He was of the Holiness Faith and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, George Meeks.

Surviving are wife, Connie Garner Stanley of Royston; daughter, Stacy Stanley of Royston; son, Tim Stanley of Nicholson; sisters, Geraldine Free of Lula, Susie Holland of Alto and Janell Thompson of Lula; grandson, Taylor Hubbard; and also three nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2009, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Nathan Hewitt and Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Internment will follow in the Wade Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday.
