Opal Thornhill Mullinax

Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel announces the death of Mrs. Opal Thornhill Mullinax, age 74, of Buford, Georgia who died Thursday, April 30, 2009 following an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 03, 2009 at the Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel with Reverend Danny Newbern officiating. Interment will follow in the Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 01, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM; and on Saturday, May 02, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM


Suvivors include her husband of 54 years, Ralph Mullinax of Buford; children, Reverend Dr. Allen Mullinax and Reverend Dr. Kim Buchanan of Woodstock; Wanda and Jimmy Deaton of Buford; Jeff Mullinax of Buford; grandchildren, Ben and Gina Deaton of Duluth; Jenny and David Riser of Alpharetta; Hope Mullinax of Buford; great grandchildren: Alyssa Riser, Chandler Riser and Norah Deaton; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Edwin Floyd, Buford; brothers-in-law, A. J. Mullinax, Buford; John Mullinax, Commerce; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Grindle, Buford; Sue Brantley, Harrison.


Mrs. Mullinax was a lifelong resident of Buford; a graduate of Sugar Hill High School --Class Salutatorian in Class of 1953; -- member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford; a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class; a member of the church choir; and member of the Ladies Prayer Team.
