McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming announces the death of Mr. C.W. "Bud" White, age 79, of Gainesville, Georgia who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Born November 14, 1929 in Pierre, South Dakota, he attended Atlanta schools where he was a Tech High 1947 graduate and served in the United States Army. While studying for a degreee in architecture, he was associated with Abreu and Robeson Architects and Fuller and Beckett Atchitects. In 1958 he received a degree from Georgia Tech. Before establishing his own firm, C.W. White Architect, he was with GSA in Atlanta and served as a consultant for the United States Postal Service.
After 1973 his architectural firm provided the design and construction supervision of numerous post offices, providing remodeling plans for postal and federal facilities. After retiring in 1997, his final years were spent at his farm home in Forsyth County.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anne Miller White and his five children and their spouses: Karen and Rusty Holland; Bill and Terri White; Leanne and J.R.Evans; Rusty White and Sue Flesch; and Jennifer and Shannon Williams; seven grandchildren; Caley White, Micah White; David White and wife Candi; Caleb Holland; Lydia Holland; Priscilla Holland; and Chris Elston and wife Shea; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Landon Elston; and Natalie Rose White.
Visitation will be at the McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming on Sunday, May 02, 2009 from 5:00 PM ntil 8:00 PM.
A private, family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the mission's ministry of North Georgia Church, Dawsonville, Georgia; and/or Samaritan's Purse, Boone, North Carolina.
