Mildred N. Hughes

Mildred Nance Hughes, 91, died on April 26, 2009 at New Horizons Nursing Care. Born to the late Wesley and Nancy Hughes Nance in Gainesville on April 9, 1918 she was the widow of the late Dr. W. R. (Billy) Hughes.

Mildred was active in church and community service until her failing eyesight affected her ability to drive. For years prior to that time she was immersed in service to the First United Methodist Church in varied volunteer capacities. She served for many years on the Girl Scout Council and was instrumental in camp operation and the transition to Campfire Girls, subsequently serving as the President of the Yonah Campfire Council.
