Judith Healan Griffin, age 48, of Dumfries Virginia, formerly of Gainesville, died Tuesday April 28, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Judy is the daughter of A.O. (Red) Healan and the late Frances J. Healan of Gainesville. Judy was married for 30 years to her high school sweetheart, U.S. Army Colonel Roger K. Griffin (ret), also from Gainesville. Together they raised two sons, Matthew Carl Griffin and William Russell Griffin. As a busy military wife, Judy was a true patriot in her support of our country and military personnel. She was a passionate advocate for military families and spouses, both as a volunteer and later in her professional career as a Family Programs Coordinator with the U.S Army Security Coordination Detachment, working with and mentoring families with spouses deployed overseas.
Judy was honored for her service by receiving one of the highest awards given to a civilian when she was awarded the Commanderâ
