Mr. John Alton Villyard, 84 of Green Hill Road, Gainesville died Sunday April 26, 2009 at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Villyard was the son of the late Hugh and Estelle Grant Villyard. In the early 1950's Mr. Villyard worked for the Gainesville Florist and Jackson's Flowerland, he also owned and operated Villyard's Dairy, Inc. for over 30 years and after his retirement from
the dairy, he worked for Rainbow Florist. Mr. Villyard served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church for many
years serving as a trustee,on the Finance committee and the Administrative Council Chair. Mr. Villyard had also served the community as a Boy Scout Troop leader for a number of years. Mr. Villyard is preceded in death by a brother, Earl Villyard.
Survivors include his Wife; Kathleen McCrary Villyard, Gainesville; Children; John Stanley Villyard, Gainesville and Lynn Yvonne Villyard, Maysville; Grandchildren; Allyson
Brannon, Maysville, Ashley and Todd Cooper, Burlington, NC; Heather Villyard and Hannah Villyard, both of Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 28, 2009 in the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randy Strickland, Rev. James Kanaday and Chaplain Maitland LaForce will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral
Home, Monday April 27, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
