Mary Ada Cromartie

A private interment was held at Alta Vista Cemetery, April 18, 2009, for Miss Mary Ada Cromartie, formerly of Candler St. Gainesville, GA., and was a current resident of Sunrise at Ivey Ridge in Alpharetta.


Miss Cromartie died April 17, 2009 in Alpharetta and the family will celebrate
her life in a service on May 30, 2009.


She was born in Gainesville, Ga., February 27, 1914, and she graduated from Brenau College, class of 1935. She taught school for 40 years, her first 5 years in Georgia, then 15 years in North Carolina, mainly in Lincolnton,
and then returned to Georgia where she taught math for 15 years at Gainesville Middle School, retiring in 1980.


Miss Cromartie had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church,
The Mildred Mealor Bible Study Class, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and a life member of
NEA and the Retired Teachers Association.


Survivors include her brother Roy Cromartie;
three nieces, Sarah Money, Margaret Hill and Kathy Cromartie; one nephew, John Cromartie;
six great nieces and four great nephews also survive.
