Lenton Phagan

Joint funeral services were held for Mr. Lenton Phagan, age 87 who passed away Sunday April 5th, 2009 and also for his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Grace Martin Phagan, age 86, who passed away Friday April 3rd, 2009 at their residence, 2274 Athens Highway, following extended illnesses.

Joint services were held Monday April 6th at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Clack Stubbs and Reverend Brian Malcom officiated. The family received friends Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 5-9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phagan was born in Hall County and was the daughter of Mr. Cleveland J. and Lydia Poole Martin. She was retired from Leece-Neville and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Phagan loved her family dearly.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Jake Martin and Cornell Martin, and her sister Lilly Martin Williamson.

Mrs. Phagan is survived by her sister, Connie Ruby Darrington of Douglasville, sister-in-law Eloise Marlow Bower of Conyers, brother-in-law, Ernest Phagan of Anderson, SC, a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Phagan was born in Hall County, Georgia, where he was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Reuben Phagan and Lola Bell Phagan. Mr. Phagan was retired from Leece-Neville and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother and wife, Phillip & Katherine Phagan, brother, Nera Phagan and his sister, Clara Mae Phagan.

Mr. Phagan is survived by his brother, Ernest Phagan of Anderson, SC, sister, Eloise Marlowe Bower of Conyers, sister-in-law, Connie Ruby Darrington of Conyers and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
