Ann Elizabeth Barfield

Ann Elizabeth Barfield, 81, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 following a brief illness.She was born on April 11, 1927 in Dalton, FA to the late Adam Garland and Elizabeth Turner Long. She was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, graduated from the University of Rochester in nursing. She practiced pediatric nursing and then taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville for 20 years.


In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Barfield and son Dr. Jim Barfield.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Abby Martin of Oakwood, grandsons, Phillip Martin, Ben Martin and Andy Martin; granddaughter, Mary Grace Barfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginger and Hugh Wightman of Almond, NY, Mary Gene and David Fortin of Rockwell, NC.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Little & Davenport, 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 27, 2009 at 4:00PM at Little & Davenport Chapel, Paul Evans will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to your favorite charity.
