Vassie Ellis

Mr. Vassie Ellis, 87, of Hall County, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 following an extended illness. A native of Dawson County, he had lived most of his life in Hall County. Mr. Ellis received the Bronze Star while serving in the Army during WWII. He was a retired farmer, a white oak weaver and a pencil artist. He was a member of the Northeast Georgia Cherokee Tribal Council and he was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas L and Mattie Lee Ellis.

He is survived by son, Gerald L. Smith of Gainesville; granddaughters, Nevada L. Smith and Harliee Smith both of Gainesville and Christie N. Smith of Orlando, FL.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Little & Davenport, 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA.

Funeral service will be Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Ricky Stone will officiate. Interment will be in Cool Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
